Patricia S. Fernandez is the founder of Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, operating from 1996 through 1999 and from 2003 through the present. Concentrating in domestic relations practice since 1986, Pat handles divorces, modifications, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, paternity issues, and approval of minors’ entertainment contracts. She provides mediation, arbitration and conciliation services. She is certified as an arbitrator through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. She also has served as Receiver, Trustee, Conciliator, Discovery Master and Guardian Ad Litem through appointments by the Probate and Family Court.

Pat employs her extensive experience to craft intelligent solutions to clients’ problems and to guide clients towards realistic goals. While aiming to resolve matters in the manner most cost-efficient and beneficial to her clients, Pat has ample trial experience from which to draw, should it become necessary. Pat has conducted numerous trials (one as long as 15 days) in the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts,.  Pat has consistently appeared in “Best Lawyers in America”  since 2006 and  has been named a “Massachusetts Super Lawyer” every year since 2005.

From 1999 through 2003, Pat was a founder and partner of the family law firm, Perocchi & Fernandez, LLP in North Andover, MA. Prior to founding her own domestic relations practices, Pat worked for ten years in the family law division of Brown, Rudnick, Freed & Gesmer, P.C. in Boston, MA.

Pat’s pro bono activities include serving as a conciliator through the Essex County Bar Association Conciliation Program and serving as Trustee of the Violet H. Simmons Scholarship Fund.  Pat has served in leadership roles in the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Massachusetts Family & Probate American Inn of Court, Massachusetts Bar Association and the Lawrence Bar Association. In 2010 Pat was appointed a hearing committee member of  the Board of Bar Overseers which handles professional misconduct issues.

Nicole K. Socci joined Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates as an associate in 2011.

Prior to joining Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, Ms. Socci served as a judicial law clerk for two and a half years to the Justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court in Middlesex, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester counties, as well as the administrative office. In that role, Ms. Socci assisted the Justices of the Probate and Family Court in a variety of family law, probate law and equity matters.

Ms. Socci graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, magna cum laude, in 2005. She earned her law degree from New England School of Law, cum laude, in 2008. Ms. Socci has been admitted to practice in Massachusetts since 2008.

While at New England School of Law, Ms. Socci completed internships with the Middlesex County Probate and Family Court, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Mediation Program, Mediation Works Incorporated and worked for a Boston-based family law firm. Ms. Socci also earned an advocate position on New England School of Law’s moot court team which competed at the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law two years in a row.

Lindsay H. Coveney joined Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates as an associate attorney in 2012.

Prior to joining Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, Ms. Coveney served as a judicial law clerk to the justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court for four years in Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk and Worcester Counties. During her tenure as a judicial law clerk, Ms. Coveney worked on a variety of domestic relations, probate and equity matters, assisting with complex legal research and writing.

Ms. Coveney received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a double major in Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2005. Thereafter, Ms. Coveney attended New England School of Law and she graduated magna cum laude in 2008. Ms. Coveney has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar since 2008.

While at New England School of Law, Ms. Coveney was an Associate Member of the New England Law Review, she participated in the Honors Judicial Internship in the Essex County Probate and Family Court, and she represented New England School of Law in the ABA Client Counseling Competition in 2007. In addition, Ms. Coveney worked as a student-attorney in the Clinical Law Office at New England in 2007, and she worked part-time throughout law school at a greater-Boston family law firm.

Miguel A. Nieves joined Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates as an associate attorney in 2014.

Prior to joining Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, Mr. Nieves was associated with the Law Office of Regan Associates, Chartered for eight years. His practice during that time focused on Domestic Relations and Immigration matters. Mr. Nieves has conducted trials relating to divorce, alimony, custody, visitation, removal and child support.  He has also conducted both jury and bench trials in cases involving civil matters throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  In addition, Mr. Nieves is a native Spanish speaker.

Mr. Nieves received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a double major in Philosophy from the University of New Hampshire in 1997. Thereafter, Mr. Nieves attended New England School of Law and graduated in 2000. Mr. Nieves has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar since 2001 and a member of the New Hampshire Bar since 2007.

While at New England School of Law, Mr. Nieves was a member of the New England Law Review as well as a Case and Note Editor. His submission, Oncale v. Sundower: Helping Employers Handle Same-Sex Sexual Harassment Claims, was selected for publication in the New England Law Review.

Marie J. Meehan is a graduate of Marian Court Junior College and has worked exclusively in family law firms since 1982. She began working with Attorney Fernandez as a legal assistant in January, 2001 and has taken over the role of office manager as the firm has grown. Marie handles most of the administrative, scheduling and billing matters for the firm. Over the course of her many years of experience as a domestic relations legal assistant, Marie has developed expertise in procedural and administrative matters. Prior to her tenure at Perocchi & Fernandez, LLP and Patricia S. Fernandez & Associates, Marie worked for fifteen years as a legal assistant to two domestic relations partners and one associate attorney at Connelly & Norton, P.C. in Boston, MA. Marie began her career as a legal assistant in 1982, working for two senior partners at the then-premier family law firm of White, Inker, Aronson, Connelly & Norton, P.C. Having witnessed the changes in the landscape of domestic relations practice from the 1980s to the present, Marie’s service as a resource for information is as valuable to the firm as her skillful administration. Marie is a Massachusetts Notary Public in good standing. Marie enjoys the beach and music and is an avid Boston sports fan.

Jennifer D. Goodwin joined Patricia S. Fernandez and Associates in 2013 as a paralegal.

Prior to coming to joining Patricia S. Fernandez and Associates, Jennifer worked at a home heating oil company for six years where she gained extensive customer service experience. While working full time at Auth, she began attending classes on the weekends to work towards a paralegal certificate. In May 2013 Jennifer graduated summa cum laude from Bay Path College in Longmeadow, MA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies and a Paralegal Certificate. She was also inducted into the Lambda Epsilon Chi (LEX) honor society.

When not working, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her cats, reading, writing, and making jewelry.
